Haters gonna hate

I posted about my admiration of Gwyneth Paltrow a few weeks before People Magazine voted her the world's most beautiful woman. I think she deserves it. Congratulations Gwyneth.

As a matter of fact, I purchased her cookbook My Father's Daughter recently and have made a few of the recipes. The Fried Zucchini Spaghetti is delicious!
If you omit the parmesan, it's vegan. Yay!  The Carmelized Brussel Sprouts - also delicious. I love Brussel Sprouts cooked this way. If you hate brussel sprouts or think you hate brussel sprouts, try them this way. I love that she steams them for  a few minutes and them transfers them to a pan to cook them the rest of the way. I have used Rocco DiSpirito's recipe that calls  for oven roasting. That recipe is quite good but I hate to have to use the oven in the summer. So GP's recipe is perfect. I also love the Miso Soup. Very simple. Very tasty.

All the recipes are relatively healthy. I can't wait to try her Mac and cheese recipe. I have not always had success with mac and cheese although I've heard tell that it's supposed to be the easiest thing to make. Her recipe calls for mascarpone and parmesan as the cheese base. Interesting! I am trying to stay on my vegan diet right now because I have a doctor appointment coming up and I want to see if my triglycerides normal out. But if I do well, I will reward myself with this recipe. At least a few bites. I'll leave the rest for the kids.

I might even buy her new book, It's All Good, before it's old enough to be cheap.

JC PENNEY Worthington Seamless Tank Top review

Worthington® Seamless TankWorthington® Seamless Tank

I LOVE!!!! these tank tops. They usually cost between $6.99 and $10. I have quite a few in black and white. I also have them in red, blue, grey and magenta. They come in all kinds of colors and sizes. Regular, Plus and Petites. The availability of colors varies and I find that it changes occasionally so keep checking back if you don't see what you want. The Petite sizes are: small-medium petite,  medium-large petite and large-XL petite. Regular: small-medium and large-XL. Plus: 1X, 2X, 3X. I have them in regular size.  The small-medium is great because it fits like a Spanx tank. Holds you all in but it's still stretchy enough to be comfortable. They're made of nylon/spandex and are machine washable. I put mine in lingerie bags and hang them to dry. They've kept their color and shape and wash very well. They still look brand new after many, many washings. They are so great under low cut or sheer tops. I had been buying Karen Kane spandex tanks to the tune of $40. I really loved the Karen Kane tops also but I found that they didn't wear very well. They had to be replaced occasionally because the fabric would pill and eventually the whites would look discolored. Then I discovered the JC PENNEY Worthington Tops and I liked them even more. They were also a fraction of the price. I've been hooked ever since.

SEQUESTER

"You seem to suggest that somehow these folks over there [Congress] have no responsibilities and that my job is to somehow get them to behave. That's their job." -President Obama responding to a reporters question on the sequester.

TOP OF THE LAKE

Totally Lazy Sunday. Just got through watching a marathon of Top of The Lake. I thought it was a good show. Lots of interesting plot twists and mystery. If you can suspend your idea of reality which I am totally able to do. Case in point. I also watch The Following. Even with all the loonies helping him, how does Joe Carroll keep slipping  away? So much inept police/FBI work. Each episode has me yelling C'MON! at the TV at least once or twice.
In TOTL, Holly Hunter  plays GJ, a Swiss National that looks eerily like cousin It.  She moves to town with a bunch of wacky women and they live in cargo boxes that were brought in by cranes and trucks. GJ is bizarre and doesn't talk much but somehow she seems to always be right. She has a 6th sense about people.
The lead character, the beleagured Robin, played by Elizabeth Moss is entirely credible although her NZ accent is not. Even worse than that is the accent of Matt Mitcham played by the Scottish Peter Mullan. Matt is supposed to be native to the area in New Zealand yet he has a very strong Scottish accent. But I can overlook it because A) he plays the character very well and B) It's a great accent any way you slice it. I'm a sucker for Scottish and Irish accents. Honorable mention, Ciarán Hinds who plays Mance Rader on Game of Thrones.
