TOP OF THE LAKE

Totally Lazy Sunday. Just got through watching a marathon of Top of The Lake. I thought it was a good show. Lots of interesting plot twists and mystery. If you can suspend your idea of reality which I am totally able to do. Case in point. I also watch The Following. Even with all the loonies helping him, how does Joe Carroll keep slipping  away? So much inept police/FBI work. Each episode has me yelling C'MON! at the TV at least once or twice.
In TOTL, Holly Hunter  plays GJ, a Swiss National that looks eerily like cousin It.  She moves to town with a bunch of wacky women and they live in cargo boxes that were brought in by cranes and trucks. GJ is bizarre and doesn't talk much but somehow she seems to always be right. She has a 6th sense about people.
The lead character, the beleagured Robin, played by Elizabeth Moss is entirely credible although her NZ accent is not. Even worse than that is the accent of Matt Mitcham played by the Scottish Peter Mullan. Matt is supposed to be native to the area in New Zealand yet he has a very strong Scottish accent. But I can overlook it because A) he plays the character very well and B) It's a great accent any way you slice it. I'm a sucker for Scottish and Irish accents. Honorable mention, CiarĂ¡n Hinds who plays Mance Rader on Game of Thrones.
